My Favorite Cruelty-Free Brands

Monday, January 18, 2016

I'm not sure what it is, whether it's getting a dog or just the fact I've gotten more into beauty lately, but I've really started to care more about which makeup brands are cruelty-free. I haven't researched it very much, but I have been pretty disturbed by what I have seen of how cosmetics are tested on animals. While I'm not 100% cruelty-free, I try to choose one of these brands whenever I can because, after all, money talks.

Pixi by Petra

This is a pretty new brand to me, but so far I've loved most of their products I've tried. Of the four I purchased last year, three ended up on my 2015 favorites list. (The one product I didn't feature is just too orange for my skin tone, who knows how I'd feel if it was in a different shade.)

To try:
Glow tonic
Brow powder
Correction concentrate

Wet 'n' Wild

This brand is available almost everywhere and they have a lot of great products. Their nail polishes are some of my favorites and they're 3-free (try finding 3-free polishes for anything less than $2...I really think these are the best deal.) And besides, you've gotta love the price points.

To try:
Nail polish
Comfort Zone palette
Liquid eyeliner

NYX is constantly churning out really high quality products at great price points. Their lip products are top-notch and their eye shadows are a really great deal for the quality. And they're 100% cruelty-free.

To try:
Butter gloss
Wonder pencil
Adorable palette (post here)

I know all the other brands are drugstore, but I had to include Tarte. Their price points might be a little higher, but their products are amazing and I think it's worth a little extra for high-quality, natural, cruelty-free cosmetics.

To try:
Amazonian Clay Blush
Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara

I used to use their mascara exclusively until my eyes got too dry to handle it anymore and their pressed powder is a perfect match for my skin tone. Also, the prices are amazing.

To try:
Best lash mascara
Powder blush
Pressed powder

Do you have any favorite cruelty-free brands?
