It's that time of year again and I'm here to reflect on my blogging goals for last year and share the new ones I've made. I know a lot of people are against New Year's Resolutions because they think people don't follow them, but I think a lot of people make goals year-round and don't achieve them simply because they're either bad goals, they don't want it bad enough or they don't come up with an action plan. I personally forget to make goals year-round, so January is the perfect time to remember to come up with some. First, I want to report on my progress from last year's goals.
While I didn't take my own photos for every post, I usually opted for my own photos instead of a stock photo this year.
Take my own photos.
Include more outfit posts.I didn't do any outfit posts this year (although I definitely intended to) but I've decided that's okay. While I think fashion blogging looks super fun (and still want to try it) I've focused on other topics and I've liked the way those posts have turned out.
Follow my editorial calendar.I wish there was a such a thing as a half strike-out because I kind of did this, but lost my momentum once I started working full-time in May. Also, sometimes when the time comes to write a certain post, I don't want to write it anymore, so I don't because who wants to read a post I didn't even want to write?
I knocked this out at the beginning of the year with Excuses Busted and it was super fun. Series are so fun (if you've never done one, put it on your to-do list because you will not regret it) and I have some ideas for future ones to do this year.
Write a fitness/nutrition series.
Collaborate with other bloggers more. I didn't really do this. I definitely interacted and engaged with other bloggers more but as far as actually collaborating, I didn't do much. I thought about it...but that was it.
So, I only accomplished two (and a half) but I think there are a lot of things I accomplished that I didn't even make goals for (isn't that how it usually is?) Now for this year's goals...
Create a blogging plan and stick to it.I used to have a really great social media plan, but I want to create an all-inclusive blogging plan to make Little Flecks of Gold better and grow my audience. I have a ton of great resources at my fingertips, I just need to sit down and use them. I intend to make the plan in the next week or so, and I'll also be sharing all the resources I use to come up with it.
Post everyday for a month.I wanted to do this in November but I was working 40 hours a week and taking 9 credit hours and couldn't even think about blogging that much. Now that I have some more time on my hands, I'd like to blog everyday for a month, just to see where it goes. A lot of bloggers I follow have done this and I have loved seeing what they come up with and it just sounds like a fun challenge.
Finish my blogging courses.I'm taking two blogging courses right now (Get Noticed and Quit Your Job to Blog) and I want to set aside some time each week to work on those and apply what I learn to my blog. I've learned a lot so far, but I still have a lot of material to learn (especially on Quit Your Job to Blog) and it's really just a matter of taking the time to watch the videos/read the courses and do the activities.
That's all for my blogging goals but feel free to share your goals (blogging or otherwise) in the comments! Have a great week!
