September Ipsy Bag

Thursday, October 1, 2015

Now that it's October (yay!) I'm finally getting around to sharing what I got in my Ipsy bag. While I definitely liked this one more than my July one, it wasn't quite as good as my August one. This month I was really impressed by how many of my products were cruelty free (more on that later), as well as compact. Even if I'm not in love with an Ipsy product, I'll set it aside just in case I need something smaller than 3 oz. for a plane or just convenience.

Pixi by Petra Brow Powder Trio

I've seen Pixi by Petra at Target before and have been dying to try it (their packaging is so pretty and drew me in), so I was so excited when I found out this was coming in my bag. I've fallen into a bit of a rut with tinted brow gel lately (which is fine, but it's sometimes fun to go a bit bolder with my brows) so this came just in time. The medium shade is a good match for my brows. I can only assume the lightest shade must be a highlight shade (because no one's brows are that light) but I don't see myself using the darkest shade anytime soon (maybe for Halloween?) Either way, I'm perfectly happy just using the medium one and it's so tiny that it's going in my backpack.

I gave this product a four on my Ipsy review.

NYX Cosmetics Ipsy Eye Shadow Trio

I used to love NYX shadows (my Adorable palette has hit pan on several shades), but I haven't used any lately because I've been relying on my Ulta rose gold palette nearly every day. While I definitely like the quality of Ulta shadows better, I did like the colors for this one. The lightest shade is gorgeous, the medium shade is perfect in the crease and every palette needs a black, right? Plus, the packaging is super cute and compact (I would totally take this on a trip with me.)

I gave this product a four on my Ipsy review.

City Color Cosmetics City Chic Lipstick

I was pretty apprehensive about getting something so cheap in my Ipsy bag, and, in this case, my doubts proved true. I have very dry lips naturally, so the rough texture of this lipstick didn't do them any favors and the bold color didn't help with that (even though this is a hot pink I totally love to wear on my lips.) Also, this is the only product I got that wasn't cruelty free. (Props to Ipsy though for giving me products that, for the most part, haven't been tested on animals.)

I gave this product a one on my Ipsy review.

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

I'm kind of torn about this scrub: yes, it exfoliates my skin pretty well and seems to have pretty good ingredients. But, it smells weird and feels too rough on my skin. Overall, I don't think it's a bad product to have on hand for travel etc., but it's definitely not something I would purchase.

I gave this product a three on my Ipsy review.

Naobay Natural and Organic Oxygenating Moisturizing Cream

Okay, at first when I saw I was getting moisturizer in my bag, I was like "Really? I just bought a huge tub from the Body Shop and I don't think I'll like anything better." I was totally wrong. First of all, this moisturizer smells amazing (I'm pretty sure it has orange essential oil in it so it smells like a creamsicle...mmmm.) Also, it's incredibly moisturizing. It makes my skin so soft but sinks in right away so it doesn't leave a oily finish at all (I can wear it during the day, under foundation and dewy setting spray with no problems.) It also hasn't broken me out, which is always a plus.

I gave this product a five on my Ipsy review.
