July Ipsy Bag Review

Monday, July 20, 2015

I've always wanted to try a subscription box, just to see what it was like. When it came time to order one, I settled on Ipsy because I love how personalized their bags are. You can also cancel at any time, which is perfect for a commitment phobe like me. Here's what was in my bag and what I thought of it:

My biggest complaint about my Ipsy bag was that it was water damaged somehow. The postcard in the package was wet, as well as some of the packaging for items inside the bag. While it didn't ruin any of the products, it definitely didn't make opening my Ipsy bag as much fun as I expected it would be.

Overall, I love a couple of the products and can tolerate the others. I don't think I would buy any of them again, but it's been fun to try new brands for such a small price!

Ofra Eyeshadow and Highlighter in Bliss

While the packaging is awful (it definitely feels like a sample,) this is a great eyeshadow. The color is gorgeous and it comes pretty heavily pigmented so I don't have to pack it on. I still haven't used it as a highlighter, but for an eyeshadow, I'm very impressed.

Octavio La Playa Sea Salt Spray

I was very interested in trying this because I've never actually purchased sea salt spray before (although I've made it loads of time with various recipes.) It does add a lot of texture and volume to my hair, but it comes in such a tiny bottle that I'm afraid to use it with abandon like I would the homemade stuff (which is so cheap to make.) Overall, I'm glad it came in my Ipsy bag, but I wouldn't buy it on my own.

Teeez Lipstick in Read My Lips

I love red lipstick, but this one really wasn't my cup of tea. It is so orange, and not in a peachy or corally way, but in a prison-uniform-only-Keira-Knightley-can-pull-it-off kind of way.

Pur-lisse Skin Brightening Serum

It's hard to tell if this product will work well with my skin long-term since it's in such a tiny package, but I do like the fact that it has vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant.) However, I'm not in love with the smell (it's very old-lady-like.)

Crown Tweezers

I already have a pair of tweezers I like, so I wasn't too excited about these, but they do the job (although my older ones are still better.)

Did you get an Ipsy bag this month? What was in your month?
